1. Deleting your data
This page explains how to delete your Hilaya account (provided by HilayaLabs) and the personal data associated with it, as required by Google Play and the Apple App Store. The easiest way is the in-app “Delete account” button — open Hilaya, go to Settings and tap Delete account. If you can't open the app, you can request deletion by email (see below).
2. Delete in the app
- Open Hilaya, open the menu and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
- Your account is scheduled for deletion. You have 30 days to change your mind — just reopen the app and sign in again to restore it.
Because much of Hilaya works anonymously, you can also remove all on-device content (bookmarks, tasbeeh counts, prayer history, settings) at any time by uninstalling the app.
3. Request deletion by email
If you can't access the app, email privacy@hilaya.fyi from the address linked to your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request.
4. What gets deleted
- Your account and profile (email, display name, identifier).
- Saved preferences synced to your account.
- AI chat history associated with your account.
- Stored location associated with your profile.
5. What we may retain
For legal compliance, safety, and the prevention of abuse and illegal activity, we keep certain records — including AI message logs together with the device identifier and IP address they were sent from — for up to 2 years (or longer where the law requires). Hilaya's AI runs on a third-party provider that monitors for illegal content, so we may be required to retain and disclose this information to that provider or to law-enforcement authorities. We also keep limited purchase records where required for tax/accounting. After the retention period, records that were never flagged for illegal content are deleted. Data held by the app stores (Apple, Google) regarding purchases is governed by their policies.
6. Timeline
After you request deletion there is a 30-day grace period during which you can restore your account by signing in again. After 30 days the account is permanently closed and is no longer accessible to you. Certain data is then retained for up to 2 years as described in section 5, after which it is deleted.
